Holiday Cooking – Empanadas

A fond childhood memory of mine would be making empanadas with my mother and whoever else she could rope into helping for special occasions and/or holidays. I recently tried her recipe on my own, with results that I can be proud of. Future empanada maker here I come – if only I can lasso a few helpers of my own.

Filled with ground sirloin, hard boiled egg, green olives and golden raisins.

My favorite Philadelphia empanadas are at Mixto restaurant on 11th and Pine.
